Welcome to Pause: A Wellness Experience

The Black Women’s Sanctuary Conference is a space created by and for Black women to pause, reflect, and invest in their well-being. Join us for a transformative day of healing, connection, and restoration.

This year’s theme, Pause: A Wellness Experience, invites you to step away from the demands of daily life and immerse yourself in holistic practices designed to recharge your mind, body, and spirit.

What to Expect

  • Holistic Healing Sessions

    Aromatherapy, sound baths, gentle movement, and other restorative practices.

  • Empowering Keynotes

    Hear from inspiring Black women leaders and wellness experts, including a session exploring everyday “non-traditional” addictions.

  • Community & Connection

    Build lasting bonds through facilitated discussions and networking opportunities.

  • Creative Expression

    Restore your joy through arts, crafts, and hands-on activities.

This conference welcomes all women who identify as African American.

For 20 years, FIERCE Advocates has been a source of wellness, healing, and advocacy for Black, Latinx, and other parents and caregivers of color.

  • Health and Wellness Program Coordinator

    Shukura has spent more than a decade serving youth and families in West Contra Costa schools. Her passion for community wellness began in her mother’s home daycare and continues through her work at FIERCE, where she helps create spaces of care and belonging.

    Her guiding belief: “People don’t care what you know until they know you care.”

  • Jeancarlo is a proud West Contra Costa Unified School District alum and first-generation college graduate from CSU Sacramento with a BS in Kinesiology and minors in Psychology and Finance. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he is committed to supporting Black and Latinx communities through healing-centered programs that foster resilience, wellness, and positive, lasting change.

  • Black Women’s Sanctuary Facilitator & Life Coach

    Paula is a certified life coach, speaker, and trainer who has mentored women, young adults, and youth across the country and internationally.

    As the founder of Above Adequate, she has dedicated her life to helping individuals grow, heal, and embrace their wholeness. Paula will guide participants at the conference with her wisdom and passion for restoration.
