Black Women’s Sanctuary

Come as you are. Leave lighter. A sanctuary circle for Black women to breathe, be seen, and restore.

Black Women’s Sanctuary is a facilitated, healing-centered circle for Black women, especially caregivers, rooted in West Contra Costa County.

This culturally affirming space offers room to release the pressure associated with the “Strong Black Woman” expectation, exhale, and receive support without judgment or performance.

Participants describe the circle as a true sanctuary where they can breathe, feel seen, grow, and leave feeling more grounded. Each gathering offers sisterhood, encouragement, and meaningful connection among Black women across generations and life stages.

What to Expect

  • A warm welcome and grounding practice, with space to arrive as you are

  • A facilitated check-in and healing-centered reflection

  • Connection with Black women across generations and life stages

  • Space to decompress, share resources, and restore joy

  • A supportive closing to help you leave feeling lighter and more grounded

Community Agreements

Confidentiality matters. Participants are asked to keep what is shared within the circle private and approach one another with care and respect.

Black Women’s Sanctuary offers community support and connection. Therapy and crisis care are outside the scope of these gatherings.
