Community Food Resources for Families Affected by SNAP (CalFresh) Delay
SNAP Benefits Paused Starting November 1
We know that for many families in Contra Costa and the East Bay, SNAP benefits, called CalFresh in California, are an important part of putting food on the table each month. Starting November 1st, CalFresh benefits will be temporarily paused because of the federal government shutdown. Families who rely on EBT cards will not receive new benefits this month.
We understand that this news may feel stressful or worrying. It is completely normal to feel uncertain about how to manage during this pause. Please know that you are not alone. Our community is coming together to support families, and there are resources available to help ensure that no one goes hungry.
At FIERCE Advocates, we believe that community care is our greatest strength. From local food programs to East Bay restaurants offering free or discounted meals, neighbors, organizations, and businesses are stepping up to help. By sharing these resources and supporting one another, we can get through this together.
